The Kara & Jerrod New Orleans Southern Oaks Wedding is the absolute cutest story! We will let Kara tell it.
We met because one of my best guy friends married one of Jerrod’s childhood friends, Morgan. Morgan and I quickly became best friends, and for the better part of a year, she insisted that she had this guy friend that I just “have to meet because y’all are perfect for each other”. Neither one of us wanted to listen to her (she was telling Jerrod the same thing) because we were out there living our best lives… or so we thought lol. I went to girls night one Monday… you know how those go, and a few martinis in Morgan added Jerrod to my snapchat. He was a complete gentleman and insisted that we do things the right way and asked for my number.
About a week later, he was in town from Nashville and asked to get together and meet in person. I was actually in Chicago for St. Patricks day with a few girlfriends, so we made plans to have our first date on Monday. I ended up getting stuck late at the hospital on Monday and it was pouring rain, but I didn’t want to miss the opportunity of him being in Birmingham. So… I went out on a limb and invited him over to my house to order in for dinner. I had to see if we had as much chemistry as we did on the phone.
He rang my doorbell, and when I opened the door, I had wet hair, no makeup and a tee shirt and leggings on. I remember thinking, “well, here goes nothing.” lol. We talked for hours like we’d known each other for years. The rest was really easy. He moved to Birmingham soon after, and we have never looked back. That was almost 4 years ago! To hear him tell it, when I opened the door that first night, he was all in. It still steals my heart to hear him talk about that first night.
This beautiful wedding at Southern Oaks is definitely one for the books. They showed their guests how we party in New Orleans. They had a second line, cigar rolling station, and much more.
