This is an annual fundraiser that NACE New Orleans puts together to raise money for various non-profits. For this one, the money raised was for a scholarship to NOCHI (New Orleans Culinary & Hospitality Institute). The outcome was amazing. There were so many vendors and donors who contributed to the silent auction. There were five different restaurants whom helped cater the event with their delicious dishes. Mirepoix Event Catering prepared BBQ gulf shrimp over a grit cake, and paired this with Campo Viejo Rose. Messinas at the Terminal served crawfish cardinal bisque with a 2014 Timbre Winery Cote Chardonnay. Broussard’s Restaurant prepared a stuffed duck leg dish, and paired this with a 2017 Jargon Pinot Noir California. The Audubon Nature Institute made beef short ribs with demi-glace and served this with Wildlife Wines African Lion Cabernet Sauvignon. Lastly, the Hilton New Orleans Riverside made a manchego cheesecake that was amazing and paired this with Poema Cava Brut.
The ambiance of the venue and surroundings, helped contribute to the wild nature theme, with a colorful contemporary feel. The greenery was placed perfectly throughout the entire venue, on the tables, glassware, and as a backdrop for photos.
The Audubon Tea Room is a great place to hold an event and/or wedding. The room is shaped like a dome and filled with gorgeous natural light that embraces the atmosphere.
